MDS Students Shine Bright During the 2024 Solar Eclipse!

For a few moments in time, MDS students simultaneously witnessed science and history. A solar eclipse is definitely not a daily occurrence. In fact, the next solar eclipse over the United States will be August 23, 2044! This was an occasion worth witnessing.

Walking through the halls on Monday, one could hear songs, listen to books, look at photographs, and watch videos explaining the how and why of a solar eclipse. Before heading out to break, students gathered in Bennett Hall as classes shared their learning. Then for the last hour of the day, students, teachers, and parents gathered on the field with blankets, solar glasses (some quite creatively made!), and cosmic snacks to participate in activities and experience the wonder of the eclipse. One parent commented, "This is something (my child) will forever remember."

A special thanks to teachers for making this a special day of learning for our students!
