Middle School Science
Teaching middle school science at Morganton Day School is so much fun! Our science classroom at MDS encourages children to become student-scientists by asking questions and then creating their own investigations to test these questions. I enjoy learning with my students as they wonder and explore our world!
This is my sixteenth year teaching science and my eleventh year teaching at Morganton Day School. In addition to the 5th thru 8th grade science classes, I also teach STEAM, which includes Future City, an outstanding, transdisciplinary competition that allows our students to consider global engineering problems and brainstorm solutions.
My son, Kendall, and daughter, Elise, both attended Morganton Day School. Kendall is now studying engineering at UNC Asheville and Elise is a sophomore at Patton High School. They enjoyed the IB program, the small classes, and their awesome teachers.
I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a Master’s in Education. Outside the classroom, I enjoy all things outdoors: including hiking, camping, mountain biking, road cycling, kayaking and gardening.
