Transdisciplinary Themes of Global Learning
Transdisciplinary Learning is one of the many reasons students thrive with an IB education. It allows students to engage with concepts and learn new skills across subject matters. This is accomplished as students explore relevant concepts through Units of Inquiry each year. Throughout these units, connections are made within and between subject areas, allowing students to deepen their understanding and take learning outside the classroom and into the world.
Each year, students focus on six transdisciplinary themes. These themes drive each Unit of Inquiry. Learning about the world in ways that reach beyond the scope of individual subjects is emphasized as each theme is explored. Students have authentic opportunities to connect their learning locally and globally. As they investigate these transdisciplinary themes, students develop depth in conceptual knowledge and better understand the interconnectedness of their world.
