The Importance of Writing for an Audience
Each year, our students engage in meaningful writing with a real audience in mind by participating in the North Carolina Reading Association’s (NCRA) Young Authors writing competition. This year’s theme, Educate, Advocate, and Empower, challenged students in grades K–8 to use their voices with purpose.
I was deeply impressed by our students’ drive and their desire to share important ideas through writing. Their stories reflected thoughtfulness, courage, and a genuine commitment to making an impact. We are proud to announce that 13 MDS students will be published in this year’s NCRA anthology. In addition, four MDS teachers will also be published, modeling for our students that learning and writing are lifelong pursuits.
Congratulations!
