OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

This week we hosted an exciting meeting regarding the Newly Expanded Opportunity Scholarship. Recently our North Carolina legislators committed to true parental choice in education through the expansion of the Opportunity Scholarship.

Monday evening, Kwan Graham from Parents For Educational Freedom in NC shared with us the ins and outs of this new program and how EVERYONE in North Carolina can take advantage of this program. She pointed out that with the new expansion, all students/families are eligible regardless of income or prior public school enrollment. This change is important to all MDS families as it means that everyone currently at MDS is eligible for scholarships that range from approximately $3,000-$7,000.

Kwan also shared with all in attendance that to receive priority consideration, families must apply between February 1, 2024, and March 1, 2024. There is a lottery system for those early applicants.
