A Word from the Head of School

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see everyone settle into the rhythm of a new school year and our classrooms filled with laughter and learning. Watching our students reconnect with friends and welcome new classmates reminds me of one of the things that makes MDS so special: our sense of community.

A strong school community doesn't happen by accident. We create it every day through the relationships we build with our students, our teachers, and one another.

As parents, you are an important part of that community. We are always excited to see folks attending school events, cheering and coaching our athletic teams, volunteering time, or simply stopping to say hello; you are helping create the welcoming environment that makes MDS feel like home.

This year, I encourage all of us to make an intentional effort to connect, participate, and show up for one another. You never know when a simple conversation at drop-off, an invitation to another family, or a few minutes spent at a school event might become a meaningful friendship. Just last night at our new parent orientation, Mrs. Feduke shared that some of her dearest friends in Morganton stem from interactions when she was a new parent at our school.

Let's keep the back-to-school momentum going because the best is yet to come. We have a year filled with exciting learning opportunities, valued traditions, celebrations, athletic events, performances, and countless moments for us to come together.
