Hello, I am the new art teacher at MDS. My name is Vickie Lyck, and my last name is Danish. The closest pronunciation is “look”.

After graduating from high school in 1982, I lived in Denmark for one year as a foreign exchange student, where I met my husband. We married in 1985 and have two wonderful children and two grandchildren.

I earned my teaching degree and a Bachelor's in Fine Arts - Studio Arts from Salem College.

I taught for twenty-seven years in the public school system, teaching in a variety of areas of education: fourteen years in regular education, working mostly with fourth and fifth grade students; nine years with academically and intellectually gifted students, teaching Kindergarten through fifth grade; and four years in art with sixth through eighth grade.

I am excited about the opportunity to work with the young artists at MDS.
