Hello, families! I’m so excited to teach third grade. With more than two decades of International Baccalaureate teaching experience, I feel that I’ve found a new home at Morganton Day School.  

My work with children began at the age of 14 as a camp counselor. My love of experiential education continued to thrive and developed into the role of Summer Camp Ecology Director for 11 years.  Whether it was in a museum, state park, or classroom, my passion for teaching science, sustainability, and environmental education guided my career.  Past roles included teaching middle school science, 4th-6th grades, PYP Exhibition Coordinator, and PYP Coordinator in an independent school setting. 

I graduated from the University of NC at Asheville with a BS in Environmental Science. Most recently, I earned a post-baccalaureate DATASTREME certificate from Pennsylvania West University and eligibility for the Certified American Meteorological Society Teacher microcredential. Chosen from educators across the United States for excellence in STEM teaching, I was selected for NOAA's Project Atmosphere (2022) where I spent intensive weeks working with top scientists at their training center in Kansas City. My work reflects a proven track record of bringing hands-on, data-driven weather and climate science into the classroom.

Outside of school hours, you are likely to find me at a scouting event, amusement park, hiking trail, or antique store with my son and/or daughter. The world is my classroom, and every day is a new adventure.
