Morganton Day School seeks an energetic, warm, and caring Junior Kindergarten teacher with love for teaching and a passion for learning. MDS is an authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization for the Primary Years Progromme. Global in nature, the curriculum emphasizes a collaborative, inquiry-based, and experiential approach to teaching and learning for children ages 3-13. MDS classrooms are safe spaces for students, families and faculty to learn and grow. The Junior Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing the academic program utilizing current best practices in education, communicating with families about students’ progress, and supporting the mission of the school.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; experience working with children of this age group and an understanding of their developmental milestones; a proven ability to collaborate effectively; a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a joyful spirit encouraging compassion, patience, and caring; and the ability to reflect on their own teaching to adapt lessons to meet the needs of the students.

Candidates should demonstrate content expertise along with the ability to design varied, differentiated learning experiences and assessments. Competitive candidates are practitioners focused on professional growth who value designing and implementing innovative pedagogical initiatives. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are essential, along with the willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom.

Qualifications

Must possess a bachelor’s degree. NC certification/licensure is preferred but not required.

 

Morganton Day School seeks a dynamic Technology/Computer Science teacher for Lower and Middle School. With a focus on students as producers of content, curriculum is vibrant and every growing with room for additions based on the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and interests. Additional responsibilities extend outside the classroom.

MDS emphasizes a collaborative, inquiry-based, and experiential approach to teaching and learning. Faculty are passionate about teaching and inspiring early adolescents- raising the bar for them to think critically and creatively and to excel in and out of the classroom. Candidates should demonstrate content expertise along with the ability to design varied, differentiated learning experiences and assessments. Competitive candidates are practitioners focused on professional growth who value designing and implementing innovative pedagogical initiatives. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are essential, along with the willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom.

Substitute Teacher – Lower and Middle School

Morganton Day School is interested in candidates who are passionate about life-long learning and will support the inquiry learning and the positive culture of our school. Previous classroom experience and excellent communication skills are essential. This position is on an as-needed basis and effective for the 2018-2019 school year.
