Morganton Day School Announces Test Score Results
Results of the 2007-08 Terra Nova CAT Achievement Test, administered to grades 3 - 8, demonstrate that Morganton Day School student scores, when averaged together were above average in each of the areas tested by the exam including Reading, Langauge, Math, Science & Spelling. This test compares students from across the U.S. who attend public and/or independent schools. MDS also admininistered the ERB Writing test, a nationally normed test, to all students in grades 3 - 8. The norms on this test compare our students to other students who attend independent schools in the U.S. When averaged together, our students scored at or above average on this exam. Results of the 2008-09 results will be posted by October 15, 2009. Results from the 2009 NC Computer Competency Test adminsitered to our 8th grade class showed 100% passing for the 6th consecutive year. All of the 8th grade students who took Algebra I passed the NC End of Course exam allowing them to enter a higher level math at high school.

2009-10 YOUNG AUTHORS WINNERS
Writing stories and becoming published authors is a dream for many young writers, but the dream has come true for several Morganton Day School students. Recently, 14 received word from the Blue Ridge Reading Council that their county level submission won the state competition. Students from across the state submitted essays, poems, and original prose in this year's Young Authors writing competition. The theme of "Surfing the Waves to Literacy " allowed for creativity as students wrote about trips to the beach, living at the coast, discoveries of things you find at the beach, things that live in the ocean, or favorite beach stories or books they have read. As a state winner, each student will be published in the "Young Authors" book and will be honored at a reception in Raleigh in May. Congratulations to John Collett, Xander Broadbent, Luke Brazinski, Matthew Cecchini, Sana Mohiuddin, Aiman Hussein, Olivia Kirk, Lilly McNally, Elizabeth Norvell, Courtney Medina, Connor Brazinski, Toddy Collett, and Peyton Carpenter.
