Part-time Technology Teacher – posted 6/17

Morganton Day School is now accepting applications for a part-time Technology teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. The ideal candidate will be  passionate about working with children, energetic, and supportive of the positive culture of our school.

Job description

  • manage all records and documents for technology program and all classroom technology tools
  • assist teachers in presenting engaging and technology-rich lessons in a variety of content areas.
  • create an engaging learning environment
  • implement and assess the Technology curriculum with fidelity
  • document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes
  • differentiate instruction to address educational needs of individual students
  • create a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and
  • provide ongoing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Essential Functions

    • Facilitates the integration of technology throughout all curricular areas.
    • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and to student learning.
    • Assists teachers in developing technology-rich lesson plans and instructional materials,
    • Conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
    • Instructs students in the principles of responsible digital citizenship.
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and to learn of current developments in the educational technology field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
    • Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
    • Actively participates in faculty meetings.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy in Technology.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curricula and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding technology.
  • Ability to use, trouble-shoot, and repair computer network systems and software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, parents, and prospective school families.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation about performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted during work.
  • Familiar with and able to use instructional tools such as SMARTboards; document cameras; desktop, laptop and notebook computers; fax machines; copiers; and telephones.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Previous experience as a classroom and/or Technology Teacher.
